Ars Philtron: Concerning the Aqueous Cunning of the Potion and Its Praxis in the Green Arte Magical, Edition Codex Vasculum - 68 by Daniel A. Schulke, [Xoanon Publishing]
“As Cain is Our Fire, so Lilith is the Black Void which receives and contains that Fire; She is the ever-fertile Black Earth of Khem, Conceal’d Mysterium of Midnight and Spirit-Roaming, and the bitter but perpetually-fecund Ashes of Annihilation.”
First published at Midsummer 2001, this important work treats extensively of Sabbatic-alchemical gnosis as manifest through the medium of potion-making, expositing eight principal philtre taxa, their pharmacoepia, gnostic dominions, and formulation. Evocations to aspects of the Sabbatic Guardians Lilith and Tubal-Cain are also given to empower the revelation and reification of the Philtre Arcana.

Who needs a man when you can have things like this?
As Cain is Our Fire, so Lilith is the Black Void which receives and contains that Fire; She is the ever-fertile Black Earth of Khem, Conceal’d Mysterium of Midnight and Spirit-Roaming, and the bitter but perpetually-fecund Ashes of Annihilation.
I was asked to create an exorcism kit as a gift. I think I met the challenge.
In order:
Lunar Water
Created beneath a full moon for the cleansing and consecration of objects, spaces and beings.
Waters of Dispersion
A formula from the Ars Philtron, “With it disperse noxious spirits and flocculum abomini.”
Waters of Severity
Also from the Ars Philtron, “A Compound Water for Exorcism in instances of stubborn hauntings.”
Ash and Herb Salts
For the exorcism of spirits, protection and the breaking of curses.
Iron Salts of Negation
For the warding, disruption and disabling of paranormal entities.
My take on a demon bowl and a desert rose selenite, to work in conjunction. The bowl binds while the desert rose transmutes malicious energy and returns it to the earth.

You saw it, then? It’s absolutely lovely.
I asked the clerk if he had Viridarium, and he didn’t. But he mumbled at me and said he had something else. I asked him to see whatever ‘it’ was and he pulled out a brown-paper-wrapped book with aged, yellow papers taped to it. He looked at it confusedly and unwrapped it, then handed it over. Despite its fairly questionable packaging, it was in mint condition. Normally I can get a feel for a book. I looked at it and in it and, curiously, my mind went blank and just filled with, 'Bring. Bring. bringbringbring.’ So I handed him my card and said, “Looks like it’s coming home with me.”

One of the few surviving copies of the 1999 pre-Xoanon ARS PHILTRON, by Daniel Schulke. Cookbooks are made to be used! I love seeing the working books of a working traditional coven. Because they look a lot like my books and remind me no matter how much people venerate these books and put them up on pedestals and charge many hundreds and even thousands for them. The witchcraft is in the work not mint condition sealed on the bookshelf.
Mine has managed to avoid the splatters yet far, but the elderberry wine almost exploded on it. Its a matter of time the more I work with this book the more it will show its wear. However, I doubt (knock on wood) that coyotes will get at mine the way they did at this one. Mine is a later copy Xoanan Deluxe Cloth—not near as rare.
Sigh. This makes me melt.
A new release by Daniel A. Schulke is for sale at Three Hands Press. I cannot wait to get a copy.
I am pretty sure this is a Daniel Schulke drawing. Anyone know for sure? Got credit for this image?
Not 100 percent, but it sure looks like his work. Wolfsbane?

Great Question, Anon.
Smoke Cleansing; the actual act of burning herbs, incenses, resins, plants or the like for their clearing properties is not affiliated with any specific peoples.
However, “smudging” is descriptive of a ritualistic practice by some Native American peoples that goes beyond smoke cleansing and most commonly incorporates white sage. (Yes, those dried grey-white bundles you can buy in new age stores and the like.) Smudging is a closed, ritualistic practice that is not simply burning shit, and certainly not for uninvited groups to practice. When you “smudge” with white sage there are several of things happening. 1) You are participating in cultural theft, which is bad 2) You are participating in cultural theft incorrectly, of all things 3) You are contributing to the endangerment of white sage.
There are plenty of other herbs you can burn that aren’t white sage, and plenty of other things you can call smoke cleansing that isn’t appropriative.
Smoke cleanse with normal (broad leaf) sage! Smoke clear with rosemary! Space cleanse with cedar! It’s so easy to not appropropriate. Woohooo!
